ASTM A270 TP304 Bright Annealed Stainless Steel Sanitary Tubes For Dairy Industry , 320 / 240 Grit
ASTM A270 TP304 Bright Annealed Stainless Steel Sanitary Tubes For Dairy Industry , 320 / 240 Grit
Sanitary tubes are distinguished from standard industrial pipes by their stringent hygiene requirements. Unlike standard pipes that may have rough interiors, crevices, or seams that harbor bacteria, sanitary tubes are defined by crevice-free construction and verified surface smoothness. ASTM A270 TP304 Sanitary Stainless Steel Tubes are usually applied as structural components. Typically, these stainless steel sanitary tubes are used in industries like the food and beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, as well as the biological industry. ASTM A270 TP304 sanitary tubes’ inner and outside surfaces are treated with finishes or with mechanical processes to make their surface smoother, making the transitioning of the product better. YUHONG GROUP produces ASTM A270 TP304/304L, TP316/316L stainless steel sanitary tubes for many years. Our sanitary tubes’ size range from 6mm to 152.4mmOD. Their surface finish can be bright annealed, mechanical polished, electrical polished, and so on.

Surface Finish:
A. Bright Annealed (BA) Foundation
Before polishing, the welded tube undergoes Bright Annealing. This is a process where the tube is heated in a controlled atmosphere furnace (hydrogen or dissociated ammonia) and cooled without scale formation. This produces a smooth, bright, oxide-free surface without the need for pickling. BA finish is the ideal substrate for subsequent polishing as it is already exceptionally clean and smooth .
B. Grit Polishing (Mechanical)
Grit refers to the abrasive particle size used in the polishing belts. Higher grit = Finer finish = Lower Ra (Roughness Average) .
C. Surface Finish Selection Guide :
| Finish Type | Grit Range | Typical Application |
| Industrial/Mill | N/A | Structural, non-contact |
| Sanitary (ID) | 150-180 | General food processing |
| Sanitary (High Purity) | 240-320 | Dairy, Beverage, CIP |
| Ultra-Purity | 400+ / EP | WFI (Water for Injection), Biopharma |
Key Advantages and Features of SS304 Sanitary Tubes:
- Hygienic Integrity: The excellent internal finish prevents bacterial entrapment and facilitates rapid drainage and cleaning.
- Corrosion Resistance: TP304 offers excellent resistance to oxidizing acids and organic compounds found in milk. It withstands the harsh alkaline and acid washes used in daily sanitation.
- Weldability: Excellent characteristics for orbital welding. The controlled carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation at weld joints.
- Oxide-Free Surface: Unlike standard annealed and pickled pipes (which have a dull grey oxide layer), Bright Annealed tubes have a clean, shiny surface, indicating superior passive layer quality.
- Cost Efficiency: TP304 is significantly more economical than TP316/L, making it the default choice for standard dairy and non-chloride food applications.
- Durability & Longevity: High strength-to-weight ratio.
Applications:
- Milk Transport Lines: Raw and pasteurized milk lines requiring smooth interiors to prevent butterfat adhesion and bio-film formation.
- CIP Return Lines: Handling acidic and alkaline cleaning solutions at elevated temperatures.
- Yogurt and Cheese Processing: Non-critical contact surfaces where 316L is not mandated.
- Food & Beverage: Beer brewing, wine making, soft drink bottling, and edible oil processing.
- Light Pharmaceutical: Non-critical water systems and clean steam lines where 316L is not mandatory.
- Cosmetics & Personal Care: Transport of lotions and creams.
