ASTM A270 TP316L Bright Annealed Stainless Steel Seamless U Bending Sanitary Tube is a high-purity, corrosion-resistant tube specifically manufactured for sanitary applications. Stainless steel 316L sanitary tubes are the gold standard for applications demanding high levels of hygiene and corrosion resistance. The addition of 2-3% molybdenum in SS316L significantly enhances its resistance to chlorides and industrial solvents compared to the more common 304 stainless steel. According to ASTM A270 standard, the stainless steel sanitary tubes shall be furnished with either mill finish, mechanically polished or electropolished surface finish. The mechanically polished surface finish includes 180 Grit, 240 Grit, 320 Grit, 400 Grit, 600 Grit, etc.. When electropolishing is applied, a bright reflective finish will be produced. Different Surface Finishes:
- Bright Annealed (BA): This is a thermally treated finish. It results in a smooth, bright, reflective surface on both the interior and exterior. It is naturally clean and requires no mechanical polishing to achieve its sanitary qualities.
- Polished / Mechanical Polish(MP): This finish is achieved by mechanically abrading the surface with finer and finer grit abrasives.
- Electropolished (EP): This is an electrochemical process that removes a thin layer of metal from the surface. It is often performed after mechanical polishing. It produces the smoothest, most corrosion-resistant, and highest-purity surface finish available, as it removes surface imperfections and embedded iron particles.
