The ASTM A234 WP11 CL2 Equal Tee is a CrMo alloy buttweld fitting designed for severe service. The CL2 designation ensures impact toughness (Charpy tested) and a strict normalized & tempered microstructure, making it superior to CL1 for critical applications involving thermal cycling or low ambient temperatures.
Manufacturing Process

Forming Methods: These tees are produced by seamless (extruded from pipe) or welded (with filler metal, then heat treated) methods. Seamless is preferred for high-pressure systems.

Hot Forming: The blank pipe is heated and shaped via hydraulic bulging or press forming. Branch outlets are drawn or extruded from the run.

Post-Form Heat Treatment: Mandatory for CL2. After forming, the tee is normalized + tempered to restore microstructure and impact properties. No cold forming is allowed without subsequent heat treatment.
