Product Description
ASME SA213 TP316L Seamless Tube C≤0.035% No PWHT After Welding Intergranular Corrosion Resistant For Heat Exchanger
The core technological advantage of ASME SA213 TP316L seamless steel pipe lies in its ultra-low carbon content. During welding, the heat-affected zone inevitably experiences a sensitization temperature range of 450℃ to 850℃.
TP316L stainless steel, by reducing the carbon content to below 0.035%, results in extremely low free carbon content at the grain boundaries for Cr₂₃C₆ formation—even across the sensitization temperature range, grain boundary carbides cannot form a continuous network, thus preventing chromium-depleted zones. Therefore, TP316L stainless steel pipe requires no post-weld heat treatment and can be used directly after welding.

TP316 is suitable for machined parts that do not require welding, or for applications where post-weld solution heat treatment is possible. It is particularly advantageous for applications requiring high strength.
TP316L is suitable for scenarios requiring extensive welding, such as tube-to-tube sheet welding of heat exchanger tube bundles, on-site process piping, and large structural components where post-weld heat treatment is not feasible. TP316L eliminates the need for post-weld heat treatment, significantly simplifying the manufacturing process, reducing energy consumption, and avoiding the risk of deformation during heat treatment.
If welding is required, choose TP316L; if welding is not required or post-weld solution treatment is possible, choose TP316. There is no absolute superiority of one over the other; the difference lies in the suitability of the application scenario.
