ASTM A420 WPL6 Carbon Steel Reducing Tee LTC (low-temperature carbon steel) Buttweld Fitting is defined as a wrought carbon-steel pipe branch connection component, manufactured to the dimensional and tolerance requirements of ASME B16.9, featuring three ends with beveled weld preparations per ASME B16.25, where the branch outlet has a smaller nominal pipe size (NPS) than the straight-run header. It is produced from a normalized, impact-tested carbon-manganese steel grade (WPL6) conforming to ASTM A420, specifically designed to withstand internal pressure, mechanical stress, and thermal shock while maintaining guaranteed ductile impact resistance at service temperatures as low as -45°C (-50°F). Its primary engineering function is to permanently split or combine fluid flow between pipelines of differing diameters via full-penetration butt-welded joints, without requiring supplemental reinforcement pads.
