A Hastelloy C276 forged NPT plug, material per ASME SB462 UNS N10276, a forged pipe plug made from Hastelloy C276 / UNS N10276, with NPT tapered threads, where the material conforms to ASME SB462 and the fitting dimensions, pressure class, and marking conform to ASME B16.11. Forging gives better mechanical strength, toughness, and pressure tightness than casting. A male-threaded fitting used to close or blank off a threaded opening. It has external threads and is installed into a coupling, tee, elbow, or other threaded port.

It is a threaded plug, not a weld fitting. It seals only when installed in a matching NPT female port with proper sealant and correct torque. Verify pressure class, temperature, and media compatibility before use.

Select the correct size and class
Match the plug to the female NPT port: size, thread type, and ASME B16.11 class — normally 2000, 3000, or 6000. -
Confirm material suitability
Use Hastelloy C276 / UNS N10276 where resistance is needed to chlorides, seawater, acids, hypochlorite, and mixed corrosive media. -
Prepare the threads
Clean both threads. Apply PTFE tape or a compatible anti-seize/sealant. Nickel alloys can gall, so lubrication matters. -
Install the plug
Thread it into the matching NPT opening by hand, then tighten with a wrench. Do not over-torque. -
Check tightness
Pressure-test or leak-test according to the system procedure before service. -
Operate within limits
Stay within the ASME B16.11 pressure/temperature rating and the corrosion limits of UNS N10276.
