The ASTM A403 gr WP316 is one of the most used form of the austenitic steel in the piping world. ASTM A403 gr WP316L has slightly less corrosion resistant properties than the A403 WP316 material. But both could be used interchangeably in most conditions except where the requirement mandated one over the other. The 316 Pipe Fittings come in different shapes and standards. They could either be seamless or buttwelded. The A403 Grade WP316 Buttweld Fittings are much stronger due to the reason that they are heat treated after buttweldiing and can last longer than most other 316 Stainless Steel Fittings. The applications of the SS 316 Fitting types vary such as the elbows, bends, tees, valves, adapters and much more. The most used 316 SS Weld Fittings are of smaller pipe sizes. The ASTM A403 WP316L Fittings could be used with low cost, low pressure applications where the corrosion resistance or pressure containment is less required. The A403 WP316L Elbow would perform under high temperatures but only with a moderate corrosion resistance.
