A249 TP316L Stainless Steel Welded Tube Bright Annealed, for Heat Exchanger / Boiler / Condenser
A249 TP316L Stainless Steel Welded Tube Bright Annealed, for Heat Exchanger / Boiler / Condenser
ASTM A249 TP316L Bright Annealed (BA) Welded Tube is a precision welded austenitic stainless steel tube, manufactured to the ASTM A249 standard for boiler, superheater, heat exchanger, and condenser service.
- Material: TP316L (low-carbon, 16Cr-12Ni-2Mo) — superior pitting/crevice corrosion resistance vs. 304, excellent post-weld intergranular corrosion resistance.
- Finish: Bright Annealed (BA) — produced in a controlled protective atmosphere, yielding a smooth, bright, oxide-free inner/outer surface.
- Key Advantages:
- Clean, low surface roughness → maximizes heat transfer efficiency
- Reduces fouling/residue buildup; easy to clean
- High dimensional accuracy & consistent weld quality
- Resists chloride, chemical, and high-temperature corrosion
Dimension and Tolerance
1. Conventional size range:
The outer diameter range typically provided is 3.2mm to 127mm, and the wall thickness range is 0.4mm to 8.1mm. Sizes beyond this range can also be customized through negotiation.
2. Typical tolerances:
- Outer diameter: usually ranging from ± 0.1mm to ± 0.38mm, depending on the specific size.
- Wall thickness: usually ± 10%.
3. Supply length: straight or coiled pipe (U-shaped pipe, coiled pipe, etc.).
Manufacturing and process requirements
- Welding process: Automatic welding process is adopted, usually without adding filler metal (self welding), to ensure that the weld performance is close to the base metal.
- Heat treatment: The finished pipe must undergo solution annealing treatment.
- Temperature: Usually requires heating to above 1040 ° C and rapid cooling (such as water quenching or air cooling).
- Purpose: To eliminate welding stress, restore corrosion resistance, and ensure uniform organization.
- Surface treatment: Bright annealed (BA) tubes can be provided, with a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.5 μ m (inner wall), suitable for applications with extremely high cleanliness requirements.
