Wood Characteristics
American White Oak features light to medium brown heartwood with olive undertones and prominent ray-stain patterns when quarter-sawn. The wood is classified as very durable with straight grain and coarse, uneven texture. Excellent for steam bending, responds well to all surface treatments and finishing processes.
Processing & Finishing
Machining presents no difficulties when using carbide tools. The wood dries slowly requiring mild drying conditions to prevent checking. All surface treatments are easily applied, particularly suitable for rustic staining techniques.
