The MOV varistor block serves as the core component of surge arresters, primarily composed of Zinc Oxide with small quantities of bismuth oxide, fluoride oxide, manganous carbonate, antimony oxide, and other additives manufactured under high temperature conditions.
Technical Composition
Metal Oxide Varistors feature a microstructure consisting of Zinc Oxide grains, grain boundary layers, and chienship phase. The electrical conduction principle relies on Zinc Oxide grains' excellent conductivity, with voltage primarily acting on the high-resistance grain boundary layer. The varistor's nonlinear characteristics originate from the grain boundary layer (primarily bismuth oxide) and chienship phase dispersed throughout the boundary layer.
