- A Varistor (voltage-dependent resistor) varies its electrical resistance based on applied voltage - high resistance at low voltage and low resistance at high voltage

- Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) are constructed from zinc oxide and other metal oxides between two metal plates
- Advanced formulations and processes enable higher breakdown voltages (up to 10 kV/mm) with low leakage current
- Features a nonlinear alpha coefficient greater than 50 for rapid transition from insulating to conducting state
- Breakdown strength ten times higher than commercial MOVs enables miniaturization and high voltage surge protection
