GH5188 is a CO-NI-CR based solid solution strengthened deformed high temperature alloy with a service temperature less than 1100℃. The alloy is solid solution strengthened by adding 14% tungsten, which gives the alloy good overall performance; the addition of higher content of chromium and trace lanthanum gives the alloy good high temperature oxidation resistance. The alloy has good cold and hot processing plasticity and welding and other process properties, suitable for the production of 980 ℃ below the requirements of high strength and in 1100 ℃ below the requirements of anti-oxidation of aircraft engine parts.
 
 
HAYNES 188 alloy (UNS R30188) is a cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy that combines excellent high-temperature strength with very good resistance to oxidizing environments up to 2000°F (1095°C) for prolonged exposures, and excellent resistance to sulfate deposit hot corrosion. It is readily fabricated and formed by conventional techniques, and has been used for cast component. Other attractive features include excellent resistance to molten chloride salts, and good resistance to gaseous sulfidation.

Readily Fabricated

HAYNES 188 alloy has good forming and welding characteristics. It may be forged or other hot-worked, providing that it is held at 2150°F (1175°C) for a time sufficient to bring the entire piece to temperature. As a consequence of its good ductility, 188 alloy is also readily formed by cold working. The alloy does work-harden rapidly, however, so frequent intermediate annealing treatments may be needed for complex component forming operations. All hot- or cold- worked parts should be annealed and rapidly cooled in order to restore the best balance of properties.
The alloy can be welded by both manual and automatic welding methods, including gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG), electron beam and resistance welding. It exhibits good restraint welding characteristics.

Heat Treatment

Wrought HAYNES 188 alloy is furnished in the solution heat treated condition, unless otherwise specified. The alloy is normally solution heat-treated at 2125-2175°F (1163-1191°C) and rapidly cooled or water quenched for optimal properties.
Annealing at temperatures less than the solution heat-treating temperature will produce some carbide precipitation in alloy 188, which may affect the alloy’s properties.

GH5188 is a solid solution strengthened cobalt based high temperature alloy. The solid solution is reinforced with 14% tungsten to give the alloy excellent high temperature thermal strength. The addition of high chromium and trace.   Lanthanum makes the alloy have good high temperature oxidation resistance and satisfactory forming and welding properties, suitable for the manufacture of aircraft engines below 980℃   Parts requiring high strength and oxidation resistance below 1100°C. It can also be used for aerospace engines and space shuttles. It can produce and supply various deformed products, such as thin   plate, medium-thick plate, strip, bar, forgings, wire and precision castings. GH5188 corresponding grades. GH5188, GH188, HAYNES ALLOY NO.188, HA188, UNS R30188, KCN22W , ALLOY188, 2.4683 GH5188 heat treatment system. Forged bars, ring-shaped parts: 1180℃±10℃, choose to ensure the mechanical properties of the product qualified rate of cooling. Cold-rolled plates and strips: 1165~1230℃, fast air-cooling. Hot-rolled plate: 1170~1190℃, air-cooling. GH5188 welding. Alloy 188 is easily machined, suitable for both manual and automatic welding, and is welded by electron beam, tungsten gas argon arc welding and resistance welding. Compared with HAYNES 25 alloy, it has excellent strength, oxidation resistance and thermal stability, and good resistance to sulfidation.
