Duplex S31803 (EN 1.4462) is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex stainless steel bar manufactured through cold drawing processes. This grade combines the strength of ferritic alloys with the corrosion resistance of austenitic alloys, making it ideal for demanding industrial applications.
2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Characteristics
Duplex 2205 features a microstructure consisting of approximately 40-50% ferrite with austenite pools, providing exceptional strength and corrosion resistance. This workhorse grade offers superior performance compared to 300 series stainless steels in chloride-rich environments.
Corrosion Resistance Properties
2205 duplex stainless steel provides excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. With chromium (22-23%), molybdenum (3-3.5%), and nitrogen (0.14-0.20%) composition, it outperforms 316L and 317L stainless steels in marine environments, bleaching operations, and chemical processing applications.
