52100 Bearing Steel Overview
AISI 52100 is a high-carbon chromium bearing steel, also known as ISO 100Cr6 and GB GCr15. After quenching and tempering, it achieves high uniform hardness with excellent wear resistance, fatigue strength, and hot workability. Following spheroidizing annealing, it offers superior processability and is widely used for bearing components, machine tool parts, and transmission systems.

- Steel balls, needle roller bearings, and shafts
Heat Treatment Processes
Partial Annealing
Heat to 770-790°C, furnace cool to below 550°C, then air cool. Target hardness: 187-229 HBS.
Isothermal Spheroidizing Annealing
Heat to 770-790°C, isothermal at 680-700°C, furnace cool to below 550°C, then air cool. Target hardness: 187-229 HBS.
Quenching and Tempering
Heat to 840-860°C for oil quenching, then temper at 660-680°C with furnace or air cooling. Target hardness: 197-217 HBS.
