Inconel™ 738LC offers exceptional high-temperature creep-rupture strength and superior corrosion resistance, outperforming many high-strength superalloys with lower chromium content. This nickel-based, vacuum-cast, precipitation-hardened alloy maintains outstanding mechanical properties up to 1800°F (982°C), making it ideal for demanding turbine industry applications.

Heat Treatment Process
- 2050°F (1121°C) for 2 hours - Air cool
- 1550°F (843°C) for 24 hours - Air cool
Primary Applications
Inconel 738 is primarily used for gas turbine blades and vanes in industrial applications where high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance are critical.
Machining Guidelines
- Use sturdy, short drills, reamers, taps and end mills
- Maintain positive feeds with no tool dwelling
- Employ high-speed tools for turning operations
- Utilize carbide tools for tapping, reaming and drilling
- Continuous lubrication required
- Chemical emulsions for turning operations
- Chlorinated oil for tapping, reaming, drilling and milling
- Surface grinding at 6000 rpm wheel speed with highly sulfurized oil
- Apply normal finish grinding techniques
Corrosion Resistance Properties
- Superior performance compared to strong superalloys
- Excellent oxidation resistance up to 2000°F (1093°C)
- Enhanced sulfidation resistance to 1800°F (982°C)
- Proven resistance to hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide atmospheres at 1800°F (982°C)
