Type 440 Stainless Steel Properties
Type 440 stainless steel, known as "razor blade steel," is a hardenable high-carbon chromium steel that achieves the highest hardness levels of any stainless steel grade when heat treated. Available in grades 440A, 440B, 440C, and 440F, it offers excellent corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, and can be hardened to Rockwell 58 hardness.

Chemical Composition
The primary difference between 440 grades is carbon content:
