Forged Fittings Threaded 45D Elbow Monel 400 ASME B16.11
Forged Fittings Threaded 45D Elbow Monel 400 ASME B16.11
1. Product Description
This product is a forged threaded 45-degree elbow manufactured from Monel 400 (UNS N04400) in accordance with ASME B16.11 standards. Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (approximately 63% nickel minimum and 28-34% copper) that offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good ductility across a wide temperature range. This forged fitting is designed for threaded (NPT/BSPT) connections in small-bore piping systems, typically NPS 2 or smaller.

3. Application / Usage
This 45° elbow is ideal for demanding corrosive environments:
-
Oil & Gas Exploration and Petrochemical Processing – valve and pump connections, hydrocarbon processing
-
Marine Engineering – seawater piping systems, offshore platforms, shipbuilding
-
Chemical Processing – acid and alkali handling systems, specialty chemicals
-
Power Generation – heat exchangers, condensers
-
Aerospace & Pharmaceutical – process piping requiring high corrosion resistance
4. Advantages
-
Superior Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to seawater, acids, alkalis, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking
-
High Strength: Good mechanical properties maintained from cryogenic to elevated temperatures
-
Space-Saving Design: 45° angle provides gradual flow direction change with lower pressure drop than 90° elbows
-
Threaded Convenience: Threaded connection eliminates welding, reducing labor costs and enabling quick installation/disassembly
-
Cost-Effective: Lower cost than many higher nickel alloys while delivering excellent performance
5. Functions
The 45° threaded elbow changes the direction of fluid flow within a piping system by 45 degrees. Threaded construction allows for mechanical connection without welding, simplifying installation, maintenance, and component replacement in small-bore piping systems.
6. Installation Instructions
-
Preparation: Clean pipe threads and fitting threads thoroughly; remove all dirt, oil, and debris
-
Thread Sealant: Apply PTFE tape or pipe dope to male threads to ensure reliable seal
-
Thread Engagement: Screw the elbow onto the pipe by hand, then tighten with a wrench to appropriate torque
-
Avoid Over-tightening: Do not exceed recommended torque to prevent cracking the fitting body; use anti-seizing compound on threads
7. Precautions
-
Thread Compatibility: NPT, BSPT, and BSPP threads are not interchangeable. Verify thread type per system specification
-
Vibration Sensitivity: Threaded fittings are not recommended on lines subject to significant vibration, thermal shock, or hazardous fluid service
-
Stress Concentration: Threading thins the wall and creates stress concentrators – avoid in severe corrosive service where SCC is a concern
-
Temperature Limitation: Maximum service temperature is 538°C (1000°F)
-
Cleanliness: Requires higher degree of cleanliness than standard steel fittings to prevent thread damage
8. Shipping & Delivery
-
Standard delivery time is typically 5–50 days, depending on order quantity and specification availability
9. Payment Terms
-
Common international payment methods include T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) , L/C at sight (Letter of Credit) , D/P, and Western Union
10. Packaging
