1. Product Description

This product is a threaded reducing tee manufactured from UNS S41000 martensitic stainless steel (Type 410) in accordance with ASTM A815 and ASME B16.11 standards. ASTM A815 specifically covers wrought ferritic, ferritic/austenitic, and martensitic stainless steel pipe fittings, confirming that S41000 is a recognized martensitic grade for such applications . Type 410 is a general-purpose martensitic stainless steel containing approximately 11.5-13.5% chromium, offering high strength and good corrosion resistance in mild environments . A reducing tee has three outlets with the branch outlet being a smaller size than the run . This 2" x 2" x 1.5" SCH80 Class 3000# fitting is designed for NPT threaded connections in small-bore piping systems.

5. Functions

The threaded reducing tee connects three sections of pipe in a T-shaped configuration with the branch outlet smaller than the run. It enables fluid to be divided from a larger main pipe (2") into a smaller branch pipe (1.5"), or combined from a smaller branch into a larger main line, providing a permanent, leak-proof junction point in small-bore threaded piping systems.

6. Installation Instructions

  1. Preparation: Clean pipe threads and tee threads thoroughly; remove all dirt, oil, and debris

  2. Thread Sealant: Apply PTFE tape or pipe dope to male threads to ensure a reliable seal

  3. Thread Engagement: Screw the tee onto the connecting pipe ends by hand, then tighten with a wrench to appropriate torque

  4. Avoid Over-tightening: Do not exceed recommended torque to prevent cracking the fitting body

7. Precautions

  • Thread Compatibility: NPT, BSPT, and BSPP threads are not interchangeable; verify thread type per system specification

  • Temperature Limitation: Temperatures of 400-580°C should be avoided, as the material tends to lose mechanical properties due to over-tempering and reduced impact resistance 

  • Corrosion Resistance: Type 410 has lower corrosion resistance than austenitic grades; verify suitability for specific service environment 

  • Sour Service: When used in sour service, Type 410 requires a maximum hardness of 22 HRC and double tempering at ≥621°C per NACE requirements 

  • Vibration Sensitivity: Threaded fittings are not recommended on lines subject to significant vibration, thermal shock, or hazardous fluid service
