1. Product Description 

 

Hastelloy is a family of nickel‑based superalloys developed by Haynes International, engineered to withstand both strong oxidizing and strong reducing corrosive environments simultaneously. Hastelloy pipes are tubular products manufactured from these alloys, with principal grades including C‑276 (the most versatile), C‑22 (enhanced oxidation resistance), and B‑3 (specifically for reducing acids).

With nickel as the base matrix and alloying elements such as molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten, Hastelloy pipes deliver corrosion resistance far beyond that of conventional austenitic stainless steels or duplex grades. When materials like 304/316L, 2205, or even Inconel 625 fail rapidly in aggressive media, Hastelloy pipes are often specified as the ultimate solution.

2. Product Applications 

Hastelloy pipes are employed in critical fluid conveyance across the following industrial sectors:

  2. Excellent Localized Corrosion Resistance: High critical pitting temperature and critical potential against pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride‑induced stress‑corrosion cracking, making it suitable for halogen‑rich high‑temperature services.

  3. Weld‑Zone Integrity: Ultra‑low carbon (≤0.010%) and tightly controlled silicon content prevent formation of deleterious intermetallic phases in the heat‑affected zone, allowing as‑welded use without post‑weld solution annealing, thus shortening fabrication lead times.

  4. Fabrication Flexibility: Supports cold drawing, hot extrusion, and welding processes, accommodating custom requirements such as large‑diameter thin‑wall or small‑diameter heavy‑wall configurations.

  5. Life‑Cycle Cost Efficiency: Although initial purchase cost is higher, service life in extreme environments can be 3 to 5 times that of conventional alloys, significantly reducing downtime and replacement frequency.
