PUR hotmelts react with ambient air humidity. KLEIBERIT PUR-HM 702 is supplied in tightly sealed metal containers suitable for platen melters. The package should only be opened immediately before use.
The melting equipment must be constructed to protect adhesive from ambient air humidity with accurate temperature control capability.
Yellow chromated aluminum profiles require preheating to approximately 40°C immediately before bonding, with chrome coating not older than 4 weeks.
- Profile wrapping: 140°C to 160°C
- Edge banding: from 120°C (veneer and resin paper may require higher temperatures)
- PVC Foil: 40-60 g/m²
- Decor papers (including CPL material and thick papers): 50-70 g/m²
- Veneers: 80-120 g/m²
- Edge banding onto particle board and MDF: from 140 g/m²
Basis: Polyurethane
Specific gravity: approximately 1.04 g/cm³

Processing speed ranges from 10-60 m/min depending on materials and profile geometries, with potential for higher speeds. Final bond strength is achieved after approximately 7 days.
Chemical cross-linking of PUR hotmelts requires moisture, necessitating sufficient air humidity during processing.
- Cartridge guns for manual applications
- Tank melter with nitrogen blanket protection
- Drum melting systems for 20 and 200 litre drums
