Aluminum alloy 6061 is a medium to high strength heat-treatable alloy,which is having very good corrosion resistance and very good welding characteristics,which may be welded by all of the common welding techniques. Gas tungsten arc welding is generally used for thin sections and gas metal arc welding is used for heavier sections.The common temper is T4 and T6,T4 temper has very good cold formability,but T4 is not stable and will be changed to T6 when it is kept for a long time.The strength for T6 is much higher.
