This PTFE coating is totally no toxic and odourless when you heat the food with it. Obviously, this food grade coating can contact the food directly. So don't worry about the safety of the protectors. What's more, the same materials are also be used to produce BBQ grill mats.
The materials of this protector is fiberglass fabric, it can be used below 550℃. But the PTFE coating can resist a temperature between -70℃ to 260℃, max temperature can be 380℃. Because during common cooking, the temperature is usually below 200℃. It is totally safe to use this coated fiberglass fabric to produce gas range protectors. Common thickness of black protectors is 0.08mm, silver one is 0.12mm. Size of this stovetop is usually 10.6x10.6"(27x27cm).
