Surfboard Glassing Guidelines
Standard surfboard construction typically uses 3 layers of fiberglass cloth - two on the deck and one on the bottom. For shortboards, builders commonly apply two layers of 4oz cloth on the deck with one layer on the bottom. For enhanced durability, combinations of 6oz and 4oz layers may be used for heavier riders or longboard applications.
Application process involves pouring resin along the board center, spreading evenly with a squeegee to ensure complete saturation. Work efficiently before resin begins to gel, checking for any dry spots that require additional resin.
