The designation "GYTA53" follows a standard naming system for fiber optic cables. Each letter and number indicates a specific construction feature:
- GY — An outdoor cable designed for communication networks.
- T — A loose-tube design filled with a special waterproof gel to protect the glass fibers.
- A — Aluminum tape wrapped around the inner core, acting as a moisture barrier.
- 5 — A corrugated steel tape armor layer on the outside, providing extreme crush resistance.
- 3 — A tough outer polyethylene (PE) jacket that resists weather, soil chemicals, and animal bites.
