About Fiber Optic Patch Cables
A fiber optic patch cable is a fiber optic cable capped at either end with connectors that allow rapid connection to CATV, optical switches, or other telecommunication equipment. The thick protective layer connects optical transmitters, receivers, and terminal boxes.
Single Mode vs Multimode Cables
Single Mode: Features a small diametral core allowing only one mode of light propagation, reducing attenuation for longer distance transmission. Ideal for Telcos, CATV companies, and educational institutions.
Multimode: Features a large diametral core allowing multiple light modes, enabling higher data throughput over shorter distances. Common in LANs for data and audio/video applications.
