How do shock absorbers work?
Shock absorbers are an integral part of a vehicle's suspension. The function of the shock absorber is to absorb or dampen the compression and rebound of the spring and suspension. They control unwanted and excessive spring movement. Shock absorbers keep your tires in constant contact with the road. Since only a small amount of fluid is squeezed out, this slows down the movement of the suspension and inhibits spring compression and rebound. The shock absorbers are also speed sensitive. This means that the faster the spring moves, the more resistance the shock provides.
