Flange-connected Air Spring
Flange-connected air spring is a shock-absorbing element that uses compressed air as an elastic medium. Its two ends are rigidly connected to the equipment or structure through flanges.
1. Basic structure
- Airbag part: Made of multiple layers of rubber + curtain fabric (usually nylon or polyester fiber), compressed air is filled inside to provide elastic support.
- Flange: An annular connector made of metal (usually carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminum alloy), which fixes the two ends of the air spring to the equipment base or structure through bolts.
- Auxiliary components: may include air nozzles (inflation and deflation), pistons (adjusting stiffness) or dust covers (protecting airbags).
2. Working principle
- Compressed air elasticity: After inflation, the airbag expands to form an elastic body, which adapts to the load through changes in air pressure (the airbag is compressed when the load increases, and the increased air pressure provides greater support).
- Flange fixing: The flange ensures a stable connection to prevent the airbag from shifting or falling off under high pressure. It is suitable for scenes with high loads or precise alignment.
3. Core Features
- High load-bearing capacity: Flange connection provides stronger tensile/shear resistance, suitable for heavy machinery (such as truck suspension, industrial stamping equipment).
- Adjustable stiffness: Adjust the system stiffness by changing the air pressure to adapt to different working conditions (such as precision instrument vibration isolation requires low stiffness, heavy equipment requires high stiffness).
- Weather resistance: High-quality rubber and galvanized flanges can be used for a long time in humid and corrosive environments (such as ships or chemical equipment).
- Easy maintenance: Flange bolt connection is easy to disassemble and replace the airbag without replacing the entire system.
