How to Choose the Right Air Spring for a Punching Machine
1. Determine key parameters
Load requirements
Calculate the total weight of the punching machine (including molds, workpieces, etc.) to ensure that the rated load capacity of the air spring is ≥ the total weight.
If the load is unevenly distributed (such as eccentric punching), it is necessary to select according to the maximum force point, or install multiple air springs in a dispersed manner.

Stroke requirements
According to the up and down movement range of the punching machine (such as 10mm, 20mm, etc.), select an air spring with a stroke slightly larger than the actual demand (reserving 10%~20% margin).

Installation space
Measure the available space at the punching machine base or support point to ensure that the size (diameter, height) of the air spring can adapt to the installation position.

 

2. Select the type of air spring
Capsule air spring
Suitable for medium loads and large strokes (such as punching machine buffering), good fatigue resistance and long life.

 

3. Performance matching
Stiffness and frequency
When the punching machine impact frequency is high, choose a low-stiffness air spring to reduce the risk of resonance (stiffness is related to air pressure and needs to be adjusted through experiments).

Damping characteristics
If the punch press vibrates strongly, a damper or an air spring with built-in damping should be used.

 

4. Environmental adaptability
Temperature range
High-temperature environments (such as forging punch presses) require the use of high-temperature resistant rubber materials (such as fluororubber).

Corrosive media
Select anti-corrosion coatings or stainless steel accessories in humid or chemical environments.

 

5. Installation and adjustment
Installation method
Confirm that the interface type (thread, flange, etc.) matches the punch press structure.
When multiple springs are connected in parallel, ensure that the load is evenly distributed.

Air pressure regulation
Equipped with a pressure gauge and a pressure regulating valve, adjust the air pressure in real time according to the load change (such as 0.3~0.8MPa).
