A flange air spring is a high-performance industrial elastic element, its core feature being its connection via a flange with bolt holes.
It mainly consists of a flexible rubber air bladder and two metal flanges, upper and lower. The air bladder, filled with compressed air, provides elasticity, while the robust flanges provide a rigid connection and seal to the equipment.
Its primary functions are vibration isolation, support, and precise height adjustment. Its load-bearing capacity and height can be easily adjusted by changing the internal air pressure.
- Robust Connection: Flange connections can withstand high loads and lateral forces, offering high reliability.
- Excellent Sealing: Suitable for higher operating pressures, thus providing greater load-bearing capacity.
- Precise Control: Easy to achieve stable automatic control of height and stiffness.
- Preparation: Confirm sufficient installation space and clean both the upper and lower mounting surfaces, ensuring they are free of dirt and burrs. Inspect the flange air spring itself for damage, especially the surface of the air bladder.
- Placement and Alignment: Place the air spring between the upper and lower mounting surfaces. A crucial step is ensuring precise alignment between the flange holes and the bolt holes on the equipment base. Use guide rods (temporarily inserted bolts) for positioning if necessary.
- Installation, Sealing, and Tightening: Insert the correct O-rings or gaskets between the flange mating surfaces. Insert all bolts and hand-tighten the nuts, ensuring they pass smoothly.
- Even Tightening: Use a torque wrench to gradually tighten the nuts in a crisscross pattern until the specified torque value is achieved. Never tighten them sequentially clockwise or counterclockwise, as this will result in a poor seal and air leakage.
- Connecting the Air Pipe and Final Inspection: Install and secure the air pipe. Introduce air at a low pressure and check all connections (especially flange seals) for leaks using soapy water. Only after confirming there are no leaks can the system be put into normal use.
