Hesly's Hex Metal is a hexagonal cellular mesh grating specifically designed for reinforcing both linings and flooring. It acts as a surface framework to hold cement or refractory in position, and relieves stress in the lining's upper crust, which prevents spalling and cracking. As a result of Hex Metal's strength and unique design, abrasion and corrosion are retarded and refractory life is significantly extended. Even hot gaseous substances cannot erode the surface material because they are reflected away from the surface by the metal cellular grid.
Applications
Process plant which is subject to the passage of erosive gas streams, especially at high temperature, benefit by cladding with Hexmetal infilled with erosion resistant refractories. Typical applications include Cyclones, Flue Gas Lines, Reactor Vessels, Windboxes, Fan Casings, Burner Quarls: in fact any vessel or section that is subject to erosion or abrasion.
FOR REFRACTORIES
The flexibility, high strength and erosion resistant characteristics of Hexmesh make it an excellent choice for refractory linings in furnaces, reactors, cyclones, ducts and flues.
FOR FLOORS
Hexmetal provides long term protection for armor applications inside industrial floors. Specifically, loading docks, ramps, high traffic aisles for forklifts and trucks. Hot floors for foundries, forge shops and steel mills. Refuse and recycle disposal plant floors and almost anywhere floors are subject to severe impact and rolling loads. Hot gaseous substances cannot erode the refractory because they are reflected away from the surface by the metal honeycomb- shaped grid.
The flexibility of HESLY’s Hexmesh allows it to be rolled, and easily conforms to circular shapes. It is recommended for use when placement is spaced from the steel shell to allow room for thick insulation between the metal shell and the armoured surface.
