1. Are these housings explosion-proof/hazardous area rated?

A: Yes — the datasheet confirms that the 21000 (aluminum) and 24701 (stainless steel) housing assemblies are available with Canadian

Standards Association (CSA) approvals and are rated explosion proof in hazardous areas. You would need to verify that the specific

 suffix corresponds to the “hazardous area” option. If your suffix includes that option, you’re covered; otherwise ensure

you have the correct rating for your zone/area.

2. What is “probe penetration” and why does it matter?

A: Probe penetration refers to the length the probe extends into the housing/sleeve so that the sensor tip will be at the correct

position relative to the rotor/target inside the machine. A correct penetration ensures the target/probe gap is correct and

 stable. Choosing 6.0 in vs 8.0 in (for the suffix “060” vs “080”) depends on your machine geometry

(distance from casing to rotor, standoff adapter etc).

3. Can I use these housings with any proximity probe?

A: They are designed for use with Bently Nevada proximity probes (e.g., 3300 series) and the specified probe option

in the suffix. While physically you might mount another probe, warranty/accuracy/specification

 may not apply. It is best to use the housing+probe

 combination as specified by Bently.

4. What is the difference between the 21000 series and newer 31000/32000 series?

A: The datasheet notes that while the 21000/24701 series are all-metal housings, the 31000/32000 series

 provide more flexible mounting options, improved environmental resistance (e.g., thermoplastic

parts) and may be preferred where explosion proof rating is not required.
