Q1: What are the linear range and accuracy of the system?
A1: For the 3300 XL 8 mm transducer system (probe + extension cable + Proximitor sensor) the datasheet states that it provides an output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the target. The performance (linear range, accuracy, temperature stability)

meets API 670 for the system. Exact gap range depends on the variant, target material, calibration

and system configuration. For example, in some variants the

recommended gap might be ~1 mm.

Q2: Is this probe compatible with older 3300 or RAM series probes?
A2: The 3300 XL 8 mm system is backward compatible in many respects with earlier 3300 series 5 mm/8 mm components.

However, the datasheet states that when mixing XL and non-XL components, system performance

is limited to the non-XL specification. Hence for optimal performance one should

use a complete XL 8 mm system (probe + extension

cable + Proximitor sensor) if possible.

Q3: What environmental or temperature conditions can it handle?
A3: Probes in the 3300 XL family are designed for industrial conditions; the datasheet indicates they support

typical ranges for rotating machinery applications (temperatures, vibration, RFI/EMI immunity). 
Additional variants (Extended Temperature Range “ETR” probes) exist for cases where the

cable or probe lead may see very high temperatures (up to ~260 °C)
