Q1: What exactly does this housing protect against and what doesn’t it?
A1: It provides mechanical support, environmental sealing (dust, water spray) and mounting convenience for the probe. It is rated for things

like IP66 (dust-tight, water jets) and 4X (corrosion‑resistant) when installed.  However, it is not explosion‑proof unless specifically

configured or unless you select a different housing (for explosion‑proof you’d use e.g. the 21000 or 24701 series).

Q2: Can I use this housing in a high‑temperature or high‑pressure environment?
A2: For temperature: The standard material rating is approx. –51 °C to +105 °C. So within that range it is acceptable. If you have

extreme temperatures, you’ll need to verify special materials/options. For pressure: It is designed for mechanical protection,

but the datasheet explicitly notes that it is not designed to resist internal or external pressure (i.e., it is not

pressure‑sealed for high pressure fluid environments).

Q3: How do I adjust the probe gap / replace the probe without disassembling the machine?
A3: The housing allows external access: you mount the sleeve through the machine case, then the housing cover is removable

so you can access the probe and extension cable. According to the specification: “Use of a Proximity probe housing

allows external access to the proximity probe and its extension cable, permitting gap adjustment or probe

replacement without disassembly of the machine.”
