What does this probe measure — what is its function?Used to measure radial displacement, shaft vibration, shaft positional changes, and can also be used for speed/keyphasor sensing (when combined with appropriate target arrangement), in rotating machinery (turbines, compressors, pumps, etc.). |
Is the probe alone sufficient — or do I need other components?The probe must be used as part of a full transducer system: probe + extension cable + Proximitor® sensor (or other compatible signal conditioner) + monitor. The factory calibration, linearity, and accuracy specs apply only when the full system is assembled under correct conditions (correct target material, gap, etc.). |
What kind of targets does it work with?By default, calibration assumes a reference target made of Bently-specified AISI 4140 steel (31 mm diameter or larger) and a probe gap (e.g. 1.0 mm) for correct response and linearity. If you use a different target material or geometry, results may deviate unless re-calibrated. |
