Description

The 330103‑00‑10‑10‑12‑05 is a member of the 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe family from Bently Nevada.It is an eddy‑current, non‑contacting proximity probe: it measures the distance (gap) between its tip and a conductive target (e.g. a steel shaft), and

converts that gap (static or dynamic) into an electrical signal. This allows measurement of shaft radial displacement, vibration (dynamic movement), shaft position/clearance, etc. When combined with a compatible signal

conditioner / “Proximitor” + monitoring system, you get usable outputs for displacement/vibration monitoring.The probe has an 8 mm diameter sensing tip (typical for 3300 XL 8 mm series) and the body

is stainless steel (AISI 303/304); the tip is often PPS (polyphenylene sulfide).In short — 330103‑00‑10‑10‑12‑05 is a standard 3300 XL 8 mm eddy‑current proximity probe

 intended for industrial rotating machinery monitoring, giving non‑contact displacement/vibration sensing.


FAQ


Does this probe alone output useful data?

No — the probe on its own does not output a usable displacement or vibration readout. It must be used as part of a full 3300 XL transducer system (probe + extension cable + proximitor/sensor + monitor). The raw eddy‑current output needs conditioning & linearization to produce usable signals (gap,

 vibration, displacement, etc.).



What gap (distance to shaft) should I set for operation?

Nominal (factory calibration) systems for 3300 XL probes often assume a 1.0 mm gap to the target (e.g. 1.27 mm is sometimes cited as

 recommended “set‑up” gap for certain configurations). Deviations from recommended gap can affect linearity, sensitivity, and

 measurement accuracy — so ensure installation follows guidelines (and target is standard steel as

per calibration reference).



What kind of targets does the probe expect?

The probe works with conductive metallic targets — e.g. steel shafts (commonly hardened steel). The standard calibration assumes

a standard steel target (e.g. Bently‑supplied AISI 4140 steel of certain diameter or larger) for proper system accuracy

and interchangeability. Using non‑standard materials, coatings, or unusual geometries may require re‑calibration

or may affect measurement accuracy and linearity.
