Overview


The SNB10D is Yokogawa’s rack-mount Safety Node Unit (for ProSafe-RS) that provides redundant power + ESB-bus I/O interface for safety (SIL) applications;

the CU2N indicates the ESB connector unit is fitted, and -4 shows dual-redundant power hardware.Interfaces field I/O (analog inputs and

contact/digital I/O modules) to a Safety Control Unit (SCU) over the ESB bus and supplies power to the I/O modules. It is a

rack-mountable I/O node used in ProSafe-RS safety instrumented systems.SNB10D node units are implemented with

dual-redundant ESB bus interface modules and (when ordered as “-4”) dual-redundant power-supply

modules, so the node can continue operation after a single module failure.

Q — Is SNB10D a safety-certified device? (SIL level?)
A — SNB10D is part of Yokogawa’s ProSafe-RS safety platform. The ProSafe-RS family is designed for functional safety applications; the platform

supports SIL-3 architectures when configured per Yokogawa’s safety design rules. Confirm SIL claims for your

exact system architecture and certification paperwork.


Q — What I/O modules can I mount? How many?
A — SNB10D supports the ProSafe-RS I/O modules (analog & contact/digital). Up to eight modules may be mounted per node unit,

but available module positions/power allowances depend on module types and the power-supply option — always

 check the “Node Unit Mounting Restrictions” table in the I/O

Q — What are typical installation requirements?
A — Rack mounting in a keyed metallic cabinet is recommended (for EMC/earth/explosion compliance); use the specified

 insulating bushes and follow Yokogawa grounding/wiring instructions. ESB bus cable length rules

 (YCB301 ≥ 1 m) and proper terminators are required — follow the

 GS and TI documents for wiring topology.
