A: A proximity probe measures the distance between the probe tip and a conductive target (typically a rotating machine shaft) using eddy current principles. It outputs a voltage proportional to this gap, which is then processed by a Proximitor sensor for vibration and position monitoring.

Q2. What is the sensing range of this probe?

A: The 8 mm probe size refers to the probe’s physical tip diameter. The linear measurement range is typically up to a few millimeters (e.g.,

 ~0.25 mm to 2 mm or ~10–80 mils), depending on system configuration and calibration.
