Q1: What does an 8 mm proximity probe measure?

A: It measures the distance from the probe tip to a conductive target (such as a shaft surface). That distance reflects shaft displacement/vibration.

Q2: Do these probes work alone?

A: No — they must be used with a 3300 XL Proximitor® Sensor and an extension cable to condition and

convert the raw eddy‑current signal into a usable output (e.g., 4–20 mA or voltage).

Q3: What environments are these probes suitable for?

A: Heavy industry, such as power plants, oil & gas, petrochemical, and steel mills — anywhere you

need precise non‑contact measurement of rotating shafts. Models often carry 

hazardous‑area approvals (ATEX/IECEx/CSA).
