1. What does this proximity probe actually measure?

It measures dynamic vibration and static shaft position without physical contact by detecting changes in the gap between the probe tip and a conductive moving surface.

2. How does the sensing technology work?

The sensor uses eddy‑current principles — an electromagnetic field from the probe tip induces currents in the target surface, and

 changes in that field correlate to distance changes, which are interpreted as vibration/displacement.

3. Why is this used instead of contact sensors?

Non‑contact probes avoid mechanical wear and tear, provide higher accuracy for vibration analysis, and are

 suitable for high‑speed rotating machinery where physical

contact would be impractical or damaging.
