Gauge for testing contact-making and protection against accidental contact during insertion of lamps in lampholders E14

Purpose: to check E14 lampholders in respect of: a) contact-making with lamps having adverse dimesions.
b) protection against accidental contact with live parts, viz, the cap shell, during insertion of a lamp.
Testing: the holder is connected in the test circuit as shown. a) with switch A in position 2 and switch B open, the gauge is screwed fully home. in the position, both lamps shall light. b) with switch A in postion 1 and switch B closed, the gauge is screwed in slowly until either of the lamps lights. With the gauge held in this position, switch B is opened and the test probe at the side of the gauge is slid downwards as far as it will go into the space between the gauge and the holder. In this position the lamps shall not light.
