Test Purpose & Methodology
Purpose
Simulates component exposure to splash water during driving through puddles, verifying functionality when exposed to abrupt cooling by water.
Operating Modes
  • Non-operating components: Continuous operation during entire test
  • Operating components: Intermittent operation during working condition driving
Test Procedure
Heating of Device Under Test (DUT) to specified temperature followed by cyclic splashing across entire width as per standard specifications.

Splash Water Test Methodology
Heat DUT in hot air oven at Tmax for specified holding time, then splash with ice water for 3 seconds. Splash direction and width accommodate actual vehicle installation conditions.
Test Parameters
  • Number of cycles: 100
  • Holding time at Tmax: 1 hour or until DUT temperature stabilization
  • Transition duration: <20 seconds
  • Test fluid: De-ionized water
  • Water temperature: 0°C to +4°C
  • Water flow: 3-4 liters per 3 seconds
  • Jet to DUT distance: 325±25 mm
