• Function

Connecting rod bearings are crucial components loed at the big end of the connecting rod, where it attaches to the crankshaft. Their main job is to facilitate the smooth transfer of the piston's reciproing motion into the crankshaft's rotating motion. They offer a low-friction surface that allows the crankshaft journal to rotate freely within the connecting rod, withstand significant pressure and heat generated during engine operation, and prevent metal-to-metal contact via an oil film, thus reducing friction and wear. Usually, they're split-sleeve types, made up of two semicircular halves to simplify installation and removal.
