- Working principle
It consists of a float, an arm, and a variable resistor. As the fuel level in the tank rises or falls, the float moves up or down accordingly. The float is connected to the variable resistor through an arm, and the movement of the float causes a change in the resistance value of the variable resistor. This change in resistance is then sent as an electrical signal to the fuel gauge or the vehicle's electronic control system, so that the operator can know the fuel level in the tank.
