pH Calibration Procedure
- Pour a small quantity of pH 6.86, pH 4.00, and pH 9.18 solution into clean beakers
- For particularly accurate calibration, use two beakers for each buffer solution - one for rinsing the electrode and one for calibration to minimize contamination risks
- Switch on the instrument
- Immerse the electrode in pH 6.86 buffer solution and gently shake until the reading stabilizes
- Press the "CAL" button until the calibration indicator lights up, then press "PH7" until the display shows "6.86". Rinse the electrode with distilled water
- Immerse the electrode in pH 4.00 buffer solution and gently shake until the reading stabilizes
- Press the "CAL" button until the calibration indicator lights up, then press "PH4" until the display shows "4.00". Rinse the electrode with distilled water
- Immerse the electrode in pH 9.18 buffer solution and wait for the reading to stabilize until the display shows exactly 9.18
- The calibration of the instrument's pH range is now complete
