Stainless Steel Round Pipe Introduction

254SMO is an austenitic stainless steel. Due to its high molybdenum content, it has extremely high pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. This grade of stainless steel was developed and developed foruse in halide-containing environments such as seawater. The 254 SMO also has good resistance touniform corrosion. Especially in halide-containing acids, the steel is superior to ordinary stainless steel.

The most famous one is 254SMO with 6% Mo. This kind of steel has very good local corrosion resistance. It has good pitting resistance (PI≥40) under seawater, aeration,gap and low speed flushing conditions. And better resistance to stress corrosion, is a substitute

material for nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys. Secondly, it has excellent high temperatureresistance or corrosion resistance in high temperature or corrosion resistance.

A. A large number of field experiments and extensive use experience show that, even at slightly higher

temperatures, 254SMO has a high resistance to crevice corrosion in seawater, and only a few types of

stainless steel have such a performance.
B. The corrosion resistance of the 254SMO in acid and oxidized halide solutions, such as paper bleaching,

is comparable to that of the most corrosion-resistant nickel-based and titanium alloys.

C. The high molybdenum content of 254SMO enables it to have a higher oxidation rate when annealed,

resulting in a rougher surface than ordinary stainless steel after pickling.But this has no adverse effect

on the corrosion resistance of the steel.
D. Due to the high nitrogen content of 254SMO, its mechanical strength is higher than that of other types

of austenitic stainless steel.In addition, the 254SMO has high ductility and impact strength as well as

good weldability.
