300 Series stainless steels are classified as austenitic, and are hardenable only by cold working methods. These grades of stainless have chromium (approx. 18 to 30%) and nickel (approx. 6 to 20%) as their major alloying additions. Type 304 is the most widely used alloy of all stainless steels. 300 Series Stainless steel alloys resist corrosion, maintain their strength at high temperatures and are easy to maintain.

Does 321 stainless steel rust?
Type 321 has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance after exposure to this temperature range, and this grade resists oxidation up to 1500˚F and has higher creep and stress rupture properties than 304/304L. It also possesses good low temperature toughness and is non-magnetic in the annealed condition.

Is stainless steel 321 magnetic?

While corrosion resistance is similar to 304 and 304L in the annealed condition, it features higher creep and stress rupture properties, making it ideal for pressure vessels and boiler applications. 321 stainless steel is non-magnetic and heat resistant for continuous service at elevated temperatures.
