Extrusion Process Application
Plastics extrusion is a high-volume manufacturing process where raw plastic is melted and formed into continuous profiles. This process produces items such as pipe/tubing, weatherstripping, fencing, deck railings, window frames, plastic films, sheeting, thermoplastic coatings, and wire insulation.
The extrusion process begins by feeding plastic material (pellets, granules, flakes or powders) from a hopper into the extruder barrel. The material is gradually melted through mechanical energy from turning screws and heaters along the barrel. The molten polymer is then forced through a die, shaping the polymer into the desired form that hardens during cooling.
