Stainless steel is a very strong and durable material, with high strength and high ductility, completely impervious to water. It requires little or no maintenance and is easy to form and weld.

It can be colored with resin paint. For example, resin-coated stainless steel roofs are often used in Japan, or standard profiles can be used to make uncoated metal roofs.
