This cable has two J1939 9-pin male receptacles and one J1939 9-pin female connector. The function is similar to that of Y cables, but the pass-through design can help save some space when connecting and installing telematics or fleet management devices such as ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices).
The Deutsch 9 Pin male receptacles are Type 1, so their Pin F are with bigger diameter. Type 1 or Type 2 J1939 female plugs can be inserted into Type 1 J1939 male receptacles.
Pin assignment or pin out
In most cases, all 9 pins of the J1939 male and female connectors are connected, so there are 9 wires of 20AWG in the cable.
The pin assignment or pin out can also be customized according to your needs.
Application
There is only one J1939 diagnostic port in trucks. If you want to connect two devices with J1939 port to a truck with 9-pin J1939 diagnostic port at the same time, this Deutsch 9 Pin J1939 Y Adapter Cable is needed. It can be used to connect ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices, such as Cummins ZED, Garmin eLog or KeepTruckin ELD), diagnostic devices or scanners or fault code readers to a truck.
