The Three Types of Hydraulic Motors. The primary function of a hydraulic motor is to convert hydraulic energy into mechanical power. There are three major types of hydraulic motors: gear motors, piston motors, and vane motors.
Orbital motors convert hydraulic energy (pressure, oil flow) into mechanical energy (torque and speed). Sauer- orbital motors are of fixed displacement high-torque design. For a given oil flow and given pressure the displacement (size of motor) determines the speed and torque.
Hydraulic motors are widely applied in agriculture machinery, fishing machinery, plastic industry, mining, and construction machinery, especially fitted to lower load applications, such as plastic injection mold machine, cleaner, grass cutter, etc.
